Having a baby in the house would mean changing diapers a minimum of 6 times a day, which multiplies to 42 diapers a week, 168 diapers a month and more than 2,000 diapers a year! Chances are you will most likely experience a diaper leak or blowout at least once.
While you may initially be caught off-guard, there are ways to avoid the mess and stress. Oftentimes, all it takes is to go up a size in diapers. Most diapers are categorised by baby weight for easier reference but it is important to note that the sizes are merely a guideline, especially if your little one drinks a lot of milk. Larger PETPET® Tape Diapers sizes allow baby to stay fresh up to 10 hours, so you won’t need to change diapers as often.
Here are a few indications it is time to change diaper sizes:
If you little one’s weight is closely approaching the diaper’s upper weight range, it may be time to give him an upsize. For example, if he weighs 6kg in a 3kg to 7kg sized diapers, he could advance to the 6kg to 9kg sized diapers. This is because he may have expanded at the thighs although not at the waist area and the larger size would provide better comfort
Skin chaffing at the groin, hips or waist areas is a sign that the diaper is fitting too tightly.
If the diaper is not covering your baby’s bottom as much as it has previously, it loses its ability to function effectively and becomes an open invitation for leakages and blowouts.
If it is difficult to connect the diaper tabs at both ends, the diaper is too small and would be uncomfortable for your baby. The tabs should be at the center of the waistband with no skin caught beneath it. It should also close without you pulling or tugging it. The right fit is right under baby’s belly button.
